Update

This has not been a good week.

All the stress has built up and we're both pretty on edge this week.

After waiting to hear from the Director of our adoption agency, it's their recommendation that we complete our home study. Basically that means that we fill out a questionnaire on line listing our openness to certain conditions with our child's birth mother. (Which is heart-wrenching by the way...how do you decide about things like mental illness, drug addiction, drug exposure, physical deformities, access to health care...uuuggg.)

And then we send in a big fat check. Uggg. have we mentioned that we currently have no income... And our basement needs to me fixed (sooner so we can sell our house as opposed to later as we had planned)...And the money that WAS in our savings was about HALF of what we will need if we ever DO eventually get to adopt.

We were so close.
And it feels like someone died.
We lost our "imagined child" again.

So I guess the plan is to go ahead and finish our Home Study, knowing that it will never accurately depict our life. Then when we do find another job, another home, another church, another support system, we will fill out another fat check for a home study update.

In the mean time, if anyone has expertise in drywall finishing, matching orange-peel texture, painting, carpet re-installation, trim-work, or carpet cleaning...hit us up.
