This is a prayer shawl that I made for our baby's birth mother.
Don't know who she is yet.
But I planned to finish it just as we got on the waiting list for adopting.
Then my husband was fired.
And we're not adopting any time soon now.
So it sits, on the back on the chair.
Waiting....just like we are.
We wait to find jobs, make new plans,
wait find a new community of faith.
And in the waiting, good-hearted people keep telling me, telling us that maybe God had a reason for making things turn out this way. That maybe Nathan had to lose His job so that God could bring the perfect baby to us later. To keep trusting Him and then He will bless us in the future.
And maybe they're right.
But I don't think God's will is that narrow. We could adopt tomorrow and that would be beautiful...or years from now. I think His Best is that we follow Him and seek His face no matter what pain is thrown at us.
Though this world is fallen and sucky some times. He is good and can plant blessings in the middle of hardship.
And sometimes, obedience to God and walking with Him is a blessing unto itself.
Not waiting for some jackpot payoff of OUR desires sometime in the future.
But grasping the peace and love and comfort that life with Him brings.
Don't know who she is yet.
