Things I Learned on Vacation

Take someone handsome and fun-loving with you

If you are using a GPS and going through the hills of Kentucky, take an Atlas...the lady giving directions will become "That Woman"...then "Woman"...then "the thing" as she weaves you through Deliverance town, then recalculates, then loses satellite signal.
If you will be driving 2800 miles over 9 days, bring something to do in the car
Try to match your crocheting to the color of your resort
Once you've gone ocean-front...there's no going back. And if you're facing the ocean, keep your doors open at all times (except for the occasional curious sea gull)
Ask other couples to take your picture...even if you think you are being annoying.
Don't be afraid to vacation in the fall instead of summer...the weather was still beautiful, the rates are significantly lower, and it was mostly sweet, quiet, older couples walking hand in hand down the beach.
Make sure to give yourself a pedicure before you leave if you will be soaking up the sun

Take your own beach chairs...So much easier to read and you find sand in less places than laying on a beach towel
Don't wait another 6 years for another "just the two of us" vacation
