Today we celebrate 5 years of marriage. Five years ago we stood before family and friends and made a lot of heavy promises to each other. Promises to give ourselves away. We promised "to love and sustain the other person in the covenant of marriage". And today we celebrate. We celebrate the time that we have kept those promises and savor these blessed years that we have spent on the other side of those vows.
When we stood at the front of the church five years ago, we were on the other side of the vows in another sense beyond the simple before and after. We were experiencing all easy, beautiful sides of life together. Laughter, health, play, and plenty.
Since that hot sunny July afternoon, we have tasted the other side of those vows. Tears, sickness, work, want. And *because* of these harder times we have cleaved tighter to one another. And while hardship is never welcome, the results are clearer understanding, greater appreciation, ability to trust, and more generosity. And these blessings add depth and color to our marriage that will help us to love each other
"faithfully, constantly, prayerfully, as long as we both shall live."
Happy Anniversary Babe!!
